Description
Quba is an orchard town in the northeast under the highest part of the Greater Caucasus, known across Azerbaijan for its apples and for a distinctive knotted carpet. Across the river lies Qirmizi Qasaba, generally described as the only all-Jewish town outside Israel, home to Mountain Jews who have lived in the Caucasus for well over a thousand years and speak Judeo-Tat. The road south from here climbs to Khinalug, and the Afurja waterfall and the Tengealti canyon are in the valleys west of town.
