Description
Playa del Coco is a lively coastal town in Guanacaste and one of the most accessible beach destinations in northwestern Costa Rica. The former fishing village is known for its sheltered beach, relaxed atmosphere, and role as an important hub for diving excursions to the offshore Catalina Islands and Bat Islands, where manta rays, bull sharks, and other large marine species can be encountered. Restaurants, bars, dive shops, and small stores line the waterfront and give the town its casual, unpretentious character. Located about half an hour from Liberia International Airport, Playa del Coco combines beach life, water sports, and nightlife while also serving as a convenient base for exploring the Guanacaste coast.
