Description
The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve (Reserva Biológica Bosque Nuboso Monteverde) is one of Costa Rica’s best-known protected areas and a fascinating world of dense cloud forest, moss-covered trees, and lush tropical vegetation. Located along the Continental Divide, the reserve is renowned for its extraordinary biodiversity, with thousands of plant species, numerous orchids, and more than 400 bird species, including the resplendent quetzal. Hiking trails and a suspension bridge lead through the mist-shrouded mountain forest, offering impressive glimpses of its rich flora and fauna. The surrounding Monteverde region is considered a pioneer of ecotourism, combining nature conservation with outdoor experiences, environmental education, and scientific research.
