The Orosí Valley (Valle de Orosí) is one of Costa Rica’s most scenic highland landscapes, stretching southeast of Cartago through the Río Reventazón watershed. The lush valley is characterized by coffee plantations, pastures, forested mountain slopes, and small rural communities. Its main attractions include the colonial Church of San José de Orosí, considered the oldest church still in use in Costa Rica, the historic ruins of Ujarrás, and the region’s natural hot springs. At the southern end of the valley, Tapantí–Macizo de la Muerte National Park protects one of the country’s wettest and most biodiverse landscapes. Combining nature, colonial heritage, and rural Costa Rican life, the Orosí Valley is an ideal destination for one or two days of relaxed exploration..
