Description
Nyanga is the northern end of the Eastern Highlands, a plateau of granite domes, plantation pine and moorland along the Mozambican border that looks and feels nothing like the rest of Zimbabwe. It is cold enough for frost, the streams hold trout that were stocked a century ago, and Mount Nyangani at two thousand five hundred metres is the highest point in the country. Mtarazi Falls drops seven hundred and sixty metres off the edge of the escarpment into the Honde Valley. The hillsides carry thousands of stone terraces and pit structures built before the colonial period.
