Description
Morondava is a coastal town in western Madagascar and an important gateway to the striking landscapes of the Menabe region. The town is best known for the nearby Avenue of the Baobabs, where towering Grandidier’s baobabs line an unpaved road and create a distinctive setting in the warm light of sunrise and sunset. The surrounding area also includes the Baobab Amoureux and Kirindy Forest Reserve, home to fossas, lemurs, and dry deciduous forest. Morondava also serves as a starting point for journeys to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Tsingy de Bemaraha. With its beachfront promenade, traditional fishing boats, and relaxed coastal atmosphere, the town offers an authentic glimpse of western Madagascar.
