Isalo National Park, Madagascar

Isalo National Park

Madagascar · Ihorombe · 900 m

Description

Isalo National Park (Parc national de l’Isalo) in southern Madagascar protects a vast sandstone massif shaped over millions of years by erosion into deep canyons, striking rock formations, and natural pools. Its dramatic landscape is often compared to a miniature Grand Canyon. The park is known for the Piscine Naturelle, the Canyon des Makis and Canyon des Rats, and viewpoints such as La Fenêtre de l’Isalo. Between dry plateaus and green river oases live ring-tailed lemurs, Verreaux’s sifakas, and numerous endemic plant and animal species. Isalo combines spectacular scenery, exceptional biodiversity, and Bara cultural heritage, making it one of Madagascar’s most remarkable natural destinations.
