Short description of Monte Café
Monte Café was founded as a coffee estate in the middle of the nineteenth century and sits high enough for arabica to do well, in cloud that rolls through the buildings most afternoons. It is one of the six estates carried onto the world heritage list, and a small museum walks through the whole processing chain before the tasting. The village still lives inside the crumbling plantation. Above it the botanical garden at Bom Sucesso marks the start of the walk to the Lagoa Amélia crater bog and of the two day climb to the island's summit.
