Short description of Marshall and Libassa
Marshall sits where the Farmington River opens into the Atlantic an hour east of the capital, and the lagoon behind the sandbar is the reason people come. A lodge built among the mangroves there is the single biggest weekend draw in the country outside the capital, with thatched cabins, a lagoon pool and a wildlife sanctuary that takes in rescued pangolins and monkeys. Boats run up the river from the lodge jetty into the mangrove channels. The old fishing village on the point keeps its canoes drawn up on the sand. Weekends fill up completely and weekdays are very quiet.
