Short description of Gbarnga
Gbarnga is the market town at the centre of the country where the roads from the capital, the Guinea border and the interior all meet. It carries a heavy history as the seat of a wartime administration, which is not advertised and not forgotten. Today it is a university town, and the campus museum east of the centre holds one of the better collections of Liberian masks and household objects outside the capital. The market is the real business of the place. A waterfall in the hills north of town is the excursion everybody makes.
