Short description of Ganta
Ganta sits right against the Guinea border and lives off the traffic across it, which makes it the busiest trading town in the interior and one of the largest in the country. Lorries queue at the crossing and the market spills along the road on both sides of it. A Methodist mission founded early in the last century still runs the hospital and a leprosy and rehabilitation centre that drew people here long before the trade did. The Nimba hills rise green along the whole eastern horizon. Nobody comes here for the sights and almost everybody passes through.
