Description
Lednice-Valtice is a vast cultural landscape in South Moravia, covering around 300 square kilometers and protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. Over centuries, the Liechtenstein family shaped the area into a remarkable ensemble of palaces, gardens, forests, ponds, vineyards, and romantic architectural follies. Lednice Castle is renowned for its Gothic Revival architecture, elegant palm house, and nearly 60-meter-high minaret, while Valtice Castle forms the grand Baroque counterpart. Tree-lined avenues, carefully designed vistas, temples, colonnades, and monuments connect architecture and nature into a beautifully composed whole. An extensive network of cycling paths makes the expansive landscape particularly rewarding to explore by bicycle.
