Description
Hluboká nad Vltavou is a picturesque town in South Bohemia, best known for one of the Czech Republic’s most famous castles. Originally a medieval fortress, the castle was transformed in the 19th century by the Schwarzenberg noble family into a romantic residence inspired by English Gothic Revival architecture and Windsor Castle. Its white façades, towers, battlements, and richly decorated interiors give it the appearance of a fairy-tale palace. Beneath the castle, the Alšova jihočeská galerie presents important works of medieval and Gothic art. A spacious landscaped park with lawns, mature trees, and walking paths completes the estate. Hluboká combines aristocratic heritage, architecture, art, and the scenic character of South Bohemia.
