Kutná Hora is a historic town in Central Bohemia and a remarkable center of medieval architecture, history, and culture. The town is known for the imposing Church of St Barbara, the extraordinary Sedlec Ossuary, and its splendid Gothic and Baroque buildings. In the Middle Ages, wealth from its rich silver deposits made Kutná Hora one of the most prosperous towns in Bohemia and an important center of European silver mining. Its historic center, together with the Church of St Barbara and the Cathedral of Our Lady Assumption in Sedlec, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
