Short description of Lakka

Lakka is by far the nearest beach to the capital and the one Freetowners actually go to, twenty minutes down the peninsula road to a long strip of casual bars set right on the sand. Music runs loud from midday onward and the crowd is almost entirely local rather than foreign. Vendors move up and down the beach selling grilled fish and cold drinks. The sand here is grey rather than white and the whole setting is unpolished, which is part of why it stays cheap. Weekday mornings the whole beach empties out almost completely.
