Description
Klein Curaçao is an uninhabited flat island of one and seven tenths square kilometres lying ten kilometres off the south east end of Curaçao, reached only by boat from the main island. A coral pink lighthouse twenty metres tall still works, and the roofless keepers' houses stand open to the wind beside it. The leeward shore holds a long white beach with reef straight off the sand and green turtles feeding in the shallows. Two wrecks lie on the windward side, an oil tanker driven ashore in the nineteen sixties and a French yacht lost in 2007.
