Karera Falls

Description
Karera is a set of four cascades dropping through gallery forest in the southeast of Burundi, linked by a short walk between the viewpoints and reckoned at about eighty metres in total. They run hard at the end of the rains and thin out as the dry season goes on, so the visit rewards timing. Half an hour east the escarpment of Nyakazu falls away in a long wall over the Kumoso plain, with a German colonial position on its edge from the fighting of the First World War. Both are usually done together in one long day.
