Short description of Karanambu
Karanambu is an old cattle ranch on a bend of the Rupununi that became famous for the woman who raised orphaned giant otters there for half a century. The ranch still takes a handful of guests at a time in adobe cottages under the mango trees. Ponds on the property fill in the wet and grow giant water lilies whose flowers open white at dusk and turn pink by morning. Boats go out after dark looking for black caiman. Anteaters cross the open savannah at first light and are the other real reason to come.
