Short description of Kaieteur Falls
Kaieteur drops the Potaro over a sandstone lip in a single uninterrupted fall roughly five times the height of Niagara, down into a gorge that swallows the sound. There is no railing, no viewing platform and no crowd, because the only practical way in is a light aircraft that lands on a strip in the forest and gives passengers an hour or two on the rim. Tiny golden frogs live in the tank bromeliads beside the path. Swifts nest behind the falling water and pour out of it at dusk. Rain cancels flights without warning.
