Short description of Corriverton
Corriverton is the last town on the Corentyne before Suriname, a single long street of shops and rum bars strung out along the coast road where it runs out of country. The ferry to the far bank leaves from a terminal just south of town and is the only legal way across the river. Backtrack crossings by small boat happen anyway and are not lawful. Rice fields run far inland behind the sea defence wall. It is a working border town with nothing at all arranged for visitors and a very great deal of traffic.
