Description
Grand Etang is the wet green centre of Grenada, a crater lake at five hundred metres surrounded by the island’s remaining rainforest and reached by the one road that crosses the mountains from the capital to the windward coast. The forest reserve holds mona monkeys brought from West Africa in the slaving years, tree ferns, and a set of waterfalls that step down towards Grenville, of which the Seven Sisters chain is the one people walk to. It rains here far more than on the coast and the trails hold the water, so boots matter.
