Description
Eagle Beach is the wide low-rise stretch north of the capital and is regularly named among the best beaches in the world, a very broad band of white sand with the water shelving out gently and nothing taller than a palm behind it. Two wind-bent fofoti trees stand alone on the sand halfway along and are the most photographed objects on the island after the flamingos. Leatherback and loggerhead turtles nest along this beach between March and September, and the roped-off nests are part of what you walk past.
