Description
Dingle (An Daingean) is a picturesque fishing and harbour town on Dingle Bay in western Ireland and an important centre of Irish-speaking Gaeltacht culture. The town is known for its colourful pubs, traditional music and its location at the start of the Slea Head Drive, a spectacular coastal route winding past cliffs, Atlantic beaches and ancient cultural landscapes. The surrounding Dingle Peninsula is rich in beehive huts, stone forts, Ogham stones and early Christian sites, including the famous Gallarus Oratory, while the nearby Blasket Islands were once home to a distinctive Irish-speaking island community. Dingle combines living Gaelic traditions with dramatic Atlantic scenery and is one of the most distinctive destinations along the Wild Atlantic Way.
