Description
Cockleshell Bay is the last beach on the southeast peninsula of St. Kitts, a curve of pale sand looking across a three kilometre channel straight at the green cone of Nevis. The peninsula road that reaches it was only cut in 1990 and the land either side is still empty salt pond and scrub with green vervet monkeys in it. Reggae Beach and Spice Mill are the two long standing beach restaurants, water taxis cross to Nevis from the jetty here, and the strait between the islands is the standard afternoon snorkelling and catamaran run.
