Description
Borjomi (ბორჯომი) is a spa town in a forested gorge and the source of the salty carbonated mineral water that is sold across the whole former Soviet Union, bottled here since 1890. The central park has a spring pavilion where you drink it warm straight from the ground, which is an acquired taste, and a cable car runs from the park up to a ferris wheel on the ridge. Around the town the Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park protects a large tract of Caucasus forest with marked multi-day trails, one of the few places in Georgia set up for that.
