Description
Bodø is a modern coastal city just north of the Arctic Circle and an important gateway to Northern Norway and the Lofoten Islands. The city combines Arctic nature with urban culture and is surrounded by mountains, fjords, islands, and spectacular coastal scenery. One of the region’s most famous natural attractions is Saltstraumen, one of the world’s strongest tidal currents, where vast amounts of seawater surge through a narrow strait, creating impressive whirlpools. Bodø offers museums, cafés, restaurants, and a lively cultural scene, as well as opportunities for hiking, kayaking, and exploring the surrounding islands. In summer, the midnight sun illuminates the landscape, while winter may bring the Northern Lights.
