Description
The Tyrolean side of the Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain, which extends across the Austrian border, is one of Tyrol’s most spectacular alpine destinations. From the village of Ehrwald, the Tyrolean Zugspitze Cable Car ascends to the mountain station at 2,950 metres in around ten minutes, revealing sweeping views across the peaks of Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. Visitors come for the panoramic terraces, summit restaurant and hiking trails around the Zugspitzplatt plateau. In winter, the Ehrwalder Alm ski area and the wider Zugspitz Arena offer family-friendly slopes and an extensive network of cross-country ski trails. Combining dramatic alpine scenery with easy accessibility, the Tyrolean Zugspitze is one of the best-known mountain excursions in the Alps.
