Description
The Grossglockner High Alpine Road is Austria’s most famous panoramic route, offering a spectacular blend of alpine scenery, engineering achievement, and breathtaking views. The approximately 48-kilometre mountain road winds through the Hohe Tauern National Park in dramatic hairpin bends to the Grossglockner, Austria’s highest mountain at 3,798 metres, and the Pasterze, the country’s largest glacier. Built in the 1930s, the road features iconic viewpoints such as the Edelweissspitze and the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe, where visitors can admire sweeping vistas of the surrounding Alpine peaks.
