Short description of Tórshavn
Tórshavn is one of the smallest capitals in the world, and nearly every trip to the Faroe Islands starts or ends here. On the Tinganes headland the red wooden offices of the government stand where a Norse assembly met from the ninth century, one of the oldest parliament sites anywhere. Turf-roofed houses crowd the lanes of Reyn behind the harbour. The Nordic House, the national museum and a lively café and seafood scene fill a short stay. Kirkjubøur and its medieval cathedral ruin lie over the hill, and the ferry to Nólsoy leaves from the quay.
