Short description of Klaksvík
Klaksvík is the second town of the Faroe Islands and the base of its fishing fleet, spread around a harbour between two fjords on Borðoy. The Christianskirkjan was built in the style of an old Norse hall, and an eight-oared boat hangs from its roof. Above the town the hill of Klakkur gives a wide view over the northern islands and their sounds. Klaksvík is the hub for the Norðoyar, with a tunnel road to Viðareiði and ferries to Kalsoy, Svínoy and Fugloy. In August the town fills for the Summarfestivalur, the largest music festival of the islands, held on the harbour front.
