Short description of Kalsoy

Kalsoy is a long, thin island of steep cliffs northwest of Klaksvík, reached by a short car ferry to Syðradalur. A single road runs its length through four narrow tunnels, linking a handful of villages. At the northern end a walk from Trøllanes climbs to the Kallur lighthouse on a grass ridge above sheer drops, a view known far beyond the islands since a James Bond film was shot there. The trail crosses farmland, so a fee is charged and the route can close. In Mikladalur a bronze statue of the seal woman Kópakonan stands on the shore rocks.
