Description
Sukhothai (สุโขทัย) was the first capital of the Siamese Kingdom and is considered the cradle of Thai culture, language, and art. The sprawling Historical Park, with its elegant lotus-bud chedis, impressive Buddha statues, and idyllic ponds, is one of the country’s most significant UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Amid the restored temple complexes and well-maintained gardens, visitors can experience the heyday of the Sukhothai Kingdom in a particularly striking way. The most atmospheric way to explore the historic site is by bicycle at sunrise.
