Description
St. John's is the capital of Antigua and Barbuda and where almost every visitor first sets foot, whether off a cruise ship at Heritage Quay or from the airport a short drive northeast. The cathedral with its pair of white baroque towers stands on the ridge above town and is visible from far out at sea. Below it the streets run down to two restored quays of duty free shops and bars built for the ships. The Saturday market fills with produce from the whole island. Fort James guards the harbour mouth beside a public beach.
