Description
Shoal Bay East is the beach Anguilla is known for and turns up on almost every list of the finest in the Caribbean, three kilometres of sand so pale it reads white against water that shades from clear to deep blue within a few metres. A reef runs close in along the eastern half, which flattens the water and makes the snorkelling straight off the sand better than most boat trips elsewhere. Two or three beach bars serve grilled fish and rum. Cruise passengers never reach it, because Anguilla has no cruise pier. The road out from The Valley takes ten minutes.
