Sandy Ground
Anguilla · Anguilla · 3 m
Description
Sandy Ground sits on a narrow sand bar between a salt pond and Road Bay, and it is where Anguilla goes out. Beach bars line the water with live bands most nights, and the island's boat racing culture is based here, sailing wooden sloops built on the beach in a national sport that predates every resort. The commercial harbour shares the bay. Boats leave the jetty for Sandy Island, a strip of sand with palms and a grill twenty minutes offshore, and for the reefs and snorkelling at Prickly Pear Cays. The Valley lies a few minutes inland.
