The Rann of Kachchh (કચ્છનું રણ), also known as the Rann of Kutch, is one of India's most extraordinary landscapes and among the world's largest seasonal salt marshes. Located in the western state of Gujarat, it is flooded by shallow seawater during the monsoon before drying into a dazzling white salt plain that stretches seemingly endlessly to the horizon. The region is renowned for the colorful Rann Utsav festival, traditional handicrafts, and the distinctive Bhunga mud houses of the Kachchh communities. Other highlights include the Indian Wild Ass Sanctuary in the Little Rann of Kachchh, important habitats for flamingos and migratory birds, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Dholavira. Combining spectacular scenery, rich cultural heritage, and ancient history, the Rann of Kachchh is one of western India's most remarkable destinations.
