Description
Udaipur (उदयपुर) is a historic city in the northwestern Indian state of Rajasthan and ranks among the country's most beautiful destinations. Built around the artificial Lake Pichola, it is renowned for its magnificent palaces, intricately carved temples, and picturesque old town of narrow lanes and traditional havelis. Its best-known landmarks are the imposing City Palace overlooking the lake and the island-based Lake Palace, one of India's most iconic buildings. Udaipur combines the rich heritage of the former Kingdom of Mewar with a scenic lake setting, the rolling Aravalli Hills, and a relaxed atmosphere. Known as the “City of Lakes” and often referred to as the “Venice of the East”, Udaipur is considered one of Rajasthan's cultural highlights.
