Description
Hyderabad (హైదరాబాద్) is the capital of the Indian state of Telangana and a major metropolis on the Deccan plateau. Founded in the sixteenth century by the Qutb Shahi dynasty, it grew rich on pearls and diamonds. The Charminar arch marks the heart of the walled old city. Golconda Fort rises on a granite ridge to the west, above the domed Qutb Shahi tombs. Hussain Sagar lake separates the old quarters from the glass towers of the tech corridor. Bazaars sell bangles, attar and slow cooked biryani. Travellers come for Indo Islamic architecture, museums and a food culture with few rivals in India.
