Description

Punta Gorda, commonly known simply as “PG”, is the laid-back capital of Belize's Toledo District in the country's far south and the gateway to one of its most unspoiled regions. This small coastal town is known for its cultural diversity, traditional cacao farming, and its proximity to Maya villages, where visitors can experience local life through homestays and cacao farm tours. Punta Gorda is also the ideal base for exploring the Maya sites of Lubaantun and Nim Li Punit, as well as waterfalls, rainforest, and the offshore Sapodilla Cayes with their vibrant coral reefs. As the southernmost destination on mainland Belize, Punta Gorda offers authentic nature and cultural experiences far from the country's well-trodden tourist trail.
