Description
Placencia is a narrow peninsula stretching about 26 kilometres (16 miles) along Belize's southern Caribbean coast. The laid-back beach destination is known for its palm-fringed shores and the Placencia Sidewalk, a narrow pedestrian pathway that was long promoted as the world's narrowest main street. As one of the main gateways to the Belize Barrier Reef, Placencia combines relaxed beach life with world-class snorkelling and diving. Popular excursions include the Silk Cayes, the Gladden Spit Marine Reserve with its seasonal whale shark encounters, and wildlife cruises along the Monkey River. With its blend of Caribbean charm, rich marine life, and outdoor adventure, Placencia is one of Belize's premier coastal destinations.
