Description
Puerto La Cruz was a fishing village until the oil of the Anzoátegui fields came out through it, and the money built the seafront the town now lives on. The Paseo Colón runs a kilometre along the bay with craft stalls under the almond trees and the Mochima islands sitting offshore. Boats leave the same promenade all morning for beaches on Chimana Grande and the Isla de Plata. The ferries to Margarita and Coche go from the terminal at the eastern end. El Morro behind the town is a grid of canals with the boats moored at the doors.
