Description
Phu Kradueng (ภูกระดึง) is a striking sandstone plateau in Loei Province and one of Thailand’s classic trekking destinations. The roughly 5.5 kilometer climb rises steeply to a vast high plateau at around 1,200 to 1,300 meters, where pine forests, grasslands, and open woodland shape the landscape. The viewpoints of Pha Nok Aen are known for sunrise, while Pha Lom Sak offers memorable sunsets over the surrounding mountain ranges. During the rainy season, numerous waterfalls carry abundant water, while maple leaves turn red in the cooler months. The park closes for four months each year, allowing the forest and wider ecosystem to recover.
