Description
Phetchaburi (เพชรบุรี) is a historic city in southwestern Thailand, known for its royal palaces, ornate temples, and atmospheric cave shrines. Rising above the city is Phra Nakhon Khiri, built under King Rama IV across three hilltops and now one of the region’s most distinctive landmarks. Wat Mahathat, with its white prangs, and Wat Kamphaeng Laeng, a Khmer sanctuary, reflect the city’s long and diverse history. At Tham Khao Luang, a natural shaft of sunlight illuminates numerous Buddha images inside the cave. Phetchaburi is also renowned throughout Thailand for its traditional sweets and delicacies made with fragrant palm sugar.
