Palolem, India

Palolem

India · Goa · 4 m

Description

Palolem (पालोळें) is a crescent bay in the south of the Indian state of Goa. Palm-covered headlands close both ends of the sand. A rocky islet at the southern tip can be reached on foot at low tide. Wooden fishing boats carry visitors to Butterfly Beach and to dolphin pods offshore. Kayaks and paddleboards drift across the calm, shallow water. Coco huts line the shore, and headphone parties keep the nights quiet. Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary and the fort of Cabo de Rama lie inland and north. Palolem suits travellers who want slow beach days rather than the crowds of north Goa.
