Description
Pai (ปาย) is an idyllic town in northern Thailand and is one of the most popular destinations for nature lovers, independent travelers, and backpackers. Surrounded by forested hills, rice paddies, waterfalls, and natural hot springs, Pai is best known for its laid-back atmosphere, picturesque scenery, and unconventional charm. Cozy cafés, small craft shops, live music, and the popular night market on Walking Street define the town’s character, while the surrounding mountains invite visitors to go hiking, take motorcycle tours, and explore traditional mountain villages. Pai is considered one of the most laid-back and charming travel destinations in northern Thailand. Among travelers, the term “Pai Hole” has therefore become established, tongue-in-cheekily describing the phenomenon that many visitors end up staying longer than originally planned.
