Obudu Mountain Resort
Nigeria · Cross River · 1600 m
Description
Obudu is a plateau at sixteen hundred metres in the hills near the Cameroonian border where the air is cool enough for blankets at night, which in Nigeria is close to a miracle. A road of twenty-two hairpin bends climbs the escarpment, and a cable car runs the same rise for those who would rather look than drive. Grassland rolls across the top with patches of montane forest in the valleys, and Becheve Nature Reserve protects a remnant of it. There are waterfalls, a canopy walkway and a mountain race held on the bends each year.
