Description
Nakhon Ratchasima (นครราชสีมา), commonly known as “Khorat”, is a major center in northeastern Thailand and an important gateway to Isan. The city combines history, culture, and modern urban life and is known for the Thao Suranari Monument, historic city walls, lively markets, and traditional temples such as Wat Sala Loi. Nearby, the Phimai Historical Park features one of Thailand’s most important Khmer temple complexes, once connected to Angkor by an ancient road. The Sai Ngam banyan grove and the pottery village of Dan Kwian add to the region’s cultural heritage. Khorat also provides an excellent base for exploring Isan and visiting Khao Yai National Park.
