Description

Mae Hong Son (แม่ฮ่องสอน) is the remote capital of the province of the same name in the far northwest of Thailand and a peaceful destination nestled among forested mountains near the border with Myanmar. The city is known for its Burmese-influenced temples, most notably Wat Phra That Doi Kong Mu with its sweeping view of the valley, as well as its relaxed atmosphere and scenic surroundings. Mountain tribal villages, hot springs, and the picturesque Pang Ung Lake, also known as the “Switzerland of Thailand”, are among the top attractions. Mae Hong Son is considered the highlight of the spectacular Mae Hong Son Loop and one of Thailand’s most unspoiled destinations, far from mass tourism.
