Description
Lopburi (ลพบุรี) is a historic city in central Thailand and one of the country’s oldest cultural centers. The city is known for its ancient temples and palace ruins, including the distinctive three towered Prang Sam Yot, which reflects the influence of Khmer architecture, as well as the crab eating macaques that roam around the historic center. Under King Narai the Great, Lopburi became the second capital of the Ayutthaya Kingdom and an important royal residence. Today, the city combines archaeological treasures with a lively urban atmosphere. Surrounded by historic landmarks and seasonal sunflower fields, Lopburi offers a fascinating glimpse into Thailand’s diverse cultural and royal heritage.
