Description
Lobéké sits in the far south-east corner of Cameroon where the country meets Congo and the Central African Republic, and the three parks across those borders form the Sangha Trinational that UNESCO listed in 2012. What brings people is the bais, natural swampy clearings in the forest where mineral salts draw animals into the open. Platforms above Djangui and Petite Savane look down on forest elephants, bongo, sitatunga and forest buffalo, and grey parrots come in flocks of hundreds. Baka trackers guide the walks in. Access is a long drive east from Yaoundé through Yokadouma. The park covers just over two thousand square kilometres.
